We are happy to feature our latest collaboration with Susan Lugar Art. Explore her expressive painterly style featuring limited, high-key palettes.
My mother always said, “She has to be making something!’” Not much has changed. After teaching English in the US and a stint with our three sons in Korea and Hong Kong, I was never too far from a sketchbook. Later on while on global travels to Oasis International Schools when I worked HR, ideas tracked me like sunshine on waves. No matter the destination, there was always a thought ready to crawl into color. Or, sometimes it was a design that settled form fitting into the classic strokes of basic black and white. Florals are often my mainstay via watercolors or digitally. Whether from Hong Kong’s showy harbor, the mountains of Afghanistan or a Bolivian lady weaving cloth as she bobs in a bright bowler, inspiration regularly blends into life. Like a long pull on salt water taffy, harsh edges disappear. I also enjoy making collections that are delicate (hopefully!) That’s the goal! Creating collections around a particular theme is like creating puzzle pieces that fit nicely in a deck. And if you find something here that proves a sweet salve for your soul, you’ll find me… twilling like a songbird.
